Welcoming Holiday Guests

It’s that time of year where many of us have guests staying in our homes. Here are some quick tips to make your guests feel at home!

Guest Bedroom/Bath:
  • Ensure that your guests have plenty of room to unpack their suitcases by making closet space and dresser space available. Check your closets and do a quick sweep to get dust bunnies, and make sure there are available hangers. One of my favorite things to find in the closet when I’m a guest is a bottle of Bounty Wrinkle Release spray…such a nice touch! Ensure that your dresser drawers are clear and CLEAN! Nothing worse than finding small critters/bugs in the drawers that I’m suppose to be putting my clothes into!!!
  • This might also be a good place to post your Wi-Fi password. I’ve seen it done very cutely in a frame. If there is a TV in your guest room, also have instructions on how to use the remotes.
  • This is pretty obvious, but make sure that the bedding has been washed, and that there are extra blankets/pillows. Plan on 2 pillows per guest. Also, go thru your towels and make sure they are guest worthy. It’s great to stock some in their bedroom, but if they need extra, they should know where to find them, and you shouldn’t have to worry about them finding a “good one” 😊
  • Finally, having extra toiletries on hand is smart too. I’ll never forget the time when I did not pack my toothbrush, but found a 6 pack of toothbrushes in my sister in laws linen closet (see, even a professional organizer forgets her toothbrush every once in a while!).  But, the truth of the matter is that having the essentials for your guests makes them feel welcome!

Kitchen:
  • Have a designated place for coffee. Stock it with different types of flavors, sweeteners and syrups, along with a decaffeinated option. It might be smart to have instructions on how to use the coffee maker here too!
  • Also, don’t forget that not everyone drinks coffee! Be prepared for the tea lovers in your life as well with the same options.
  • Stock a basket with individual snacks bags that are easy to take on the go and some bottles of water.

This truly is one of my most favorite times of the year, and I love opening my home to family and friends. I hope that these tips can help you enjoy the season with a little more merriment if you find yourself hosting! I wish you all a very merry Holiday and a Happy New Year!
